694916 2008-08-04 10:34:00 With the arrival of wide-screen tv, I obviously need to adjust my capture format profile to reflect the 16:9 aspect.

Can anyone advise what capture size I should be using?

Previously, I have used 720 x 576, but now, any wide-screen film is horribly squashed :(

694917 2008-08-04 20:35:00 Werll there's no point saving in WS format, if you dont have a WS TV Speedy Gonzales (78)

That's because it's in 16:9 format anamorphic (better known as principle behind of Cinemascope) . When you play it back to the 16:9 TV the picture fills the screen and looks normal. On a 4:3 TV it will look squashed..

694919 2008-08-05 05:15:00 I have a wide screen tv :)

furthermore, my tv capture card's on screen tv also displays normally in wide screen format, so yes, I want to record and burn to dvd in wide screen format

oops - I should have mentioned that I am recording the races onto my HDD, and then after having removed the ads, burning onto DVD

694920 2008-08-05 05:47:00 In that case it depends on, what youre using to burn it to DVD.

I know in Nerovision, u have an option to burn it as 4:3 or 16:9, on the screen before you go to burn it

694921 2008-08-05 09:12:00 Sorry Speedy, but burning is not the issue :(

My on screen viewer/capture card has been set to force ratio 16:9 so the picture I am watching is in wide screen format - just like the TV in the lounge.

Whatever I record to my HDD displays in the old 4:3 format when played back using any player :(

It will be the issue. Depending on the program youre using.

If the program has a 4:3/16:9 option, select it, before you burn it

694923 2008-08-06 07:12:00 The answer was simple :)

"Just use DVD Patcher and "patch" 4:3 to 16:9 on your original mpeg 2 file

Then load to TMPGenc author, and so on as always"
