443722 2006-04-04 06:42:00 After speaking out against the open-source platform for years, Microsoft is finally supporting Linux-based virtual machines in its Virtual Server software. Microsoft broke the rather ironic news at the LinuxWorld conference in Boston today, promising to provide technical support to customers running Windows and Linux side by side. "This will let customers have greater usability for Linux-based virtual machines running on top of Virtual Server," Jim Ni, a group product manager for Microsoft's Windows Server team, told eWEEK. "It is a really broad effort from Microsoft to foster interoperability, and is based on customer feedback. This is a big step in that direction." SurferJoe46 (51)

Is that going to be like the "support" they provide now for WIndows?
And why would you want to run Linux on top of WIndows? To destabilise it?

Microsoft want you to try linux on their virtual server rather than a native install so that they can give all the resources to the host OS & make linux appear a lot slower than windows.
