Hmm 1440 is bigger than 1280... but 900 is less than 1024... ah.. ..

443922 2006-08-12 22:01:00 1280x1024 on a 19" LCD monitor that supports a refresh rate of 75Hz. The poll closed before I could vote! pcuser42 (130)
443923 2006-08-12 22:32:00 1024x768 @ 85Hz refresh rate ;) Mr Wetzyl (362)
443924 2006-08-12 23:37:00 800 by 600 is completely unusable these days.

Having said that you should probably still aim at 800 by 600 for the web. I know one crazy mate who loves that resolution on a 19'' CRT and he isn't blind..

Well its news to me - unusable? - I always run my desktop at 800 x 600 and often my laptop as well. Reason?
So much easier to read - nice big text - even my tame computer technician who does any repairs etc comments on how much easier my computer is to work on and MUCH easier than so many to read the text etc. There are time of course when I do need to change - but its easy simple and fast for those rare times.
CAD work I always do at 800 X 600 - but then with 50 plus years of every type of drafting I am a bit prejudiced in favour of clarity - a lost art these days I'm afraid.

443925 2006-08-13 01:18:00 1440 x 900 which is the native resolution of these LCD's. At 60 hz.

Used to use 1024*768

443926 2006-08-13 01:50:00 What's wrong with 320x200 CGA, using 4 colours? Leisure Suit Larry looks great on that. :D And you can read the text. Graham L (2)

443928 2006-08-13 04:02:00 1152 x 864 desktop resolution on my 17" Philips 107x4 @ 75hz

Works great for me :D

But I ususally run games at 1024 x 768 or lower (I reckon they look odd higher than that for some reason)

Nothing Graham. Once mine somehow threw itself into 160x120 (in Win XP!). Had to use safe mode to get out of it. It was after trying to load up a game.

443930 2006-08-14 09:22:00 800*600 is right for a 15" monitor, but most things these days are designed for 1024*768. If you have a 17" or larger monitor, you are really missing out by running at 800*600 Greven (91)
