444247 2006-04-24 07:19:00 I have to work with both 'Macs' and PC's and I have yet to find any cause to own a 'Mac' I have found both to be reasonably reliable in both Software and Hardware, the main reason I would not use a 'Mac' at home is the price of the components and the fact that you cant mix'n'match components to build a machine for your needs.

I feel the same way, although to be fair - there was a side by side comparision of a 17'' iMac Intel and it was about $100 (US) more expensive than a PC built from parts... Once they are out of warranty, Macs are lemons in my opinion.

Might be interesting when they release an Intel Tower model, but I doubt it will be cheap.

It will be quite funny though when a person say "this is a mac, I don't do macs." "Well, hold down the option key at startup and use Windows instead".

444249 2006-04-24 08:29:00 True that most people don't want to purchase a computer in parts, but they do tend to look at upgrading at some stage, and I would say most Mac owners would be going through the official line of support, where they will get fleeced like a farmers daughter on her first trip into town.

And from what I have read the PowerMac G5 runs games coded for Macs very poorly, The Doom 3 review I chanced upon was shocking, especially when the price of the rig was taken into account, there was talk of dropping the res down to 640x480 to get a playable framerate, backed up with comments of how good it looked. That can only be described as delusional.

Not that I would imagine the average Mac buyer is looking to run games....

Farmer's daughter to salesperson:

"I have been sent to buy some fleece."

Salesperson:

"I am an expert in fleecing ma'am. How about a Mac?"

Farmer's daughter:

"Oooh that's pretty, but it seems a bit expensive. Is it a wolf in sheep's clothing?"

Salesperson:

"No young miss. Looks can be deceiving, it's a sheep in wolf's clothing... and worth every penny I might add."
