443911 2006-04-05 06:14:00 My LCDs are both 1280x1024.

I get annoyed with websites that hard code their layout to 800x600 screen resolutions. You end up with either the body of the webpage aligned hard left with a massive amount of blank space to the right, or it is centered with the excess large blank space either side. Time to move on and upwards. :p

443912 2006-04-05 06:49:00 I'm using 800 x 600 on a 17" monitor.

Tried 1024 x 768 on another OS, same monitor, but the fonts are really too fine. The size has been adjusted so that it is the same as I'm used to with 800 x 600, but the fonts are too spidery. As if the pen that wrote them had too fine a knib. Is there a solution for this?

443914 2006-04-05 08:21:00 1280 x 1024 on primary and 1024 x 768 on secondary, laptop is 1280 x 800 SKT174 (1319)
443915 2006-04-05 09:55:00 But then I can never understand why people get a good computer monitor etc and have almost unreadable tiny text on it. Not only am I careless I also change demo computers in shops when I try them out, definately a prison term is on its way!The point of higher resolutions is to increase detail. Many people, such as myself, would look at the situation round the other way. What is the point of buying an expensive monitor if you are only using it to the capacity of a monitor from the early nineties?

Have a look through the applications that you use. Most of them will have multiple text size settings, which allows you to bump up your resolution but also increase the size of text on the monitor if your eyes aren't so good. :)

443916 2006-04-05 12:29:00 I wouldn't say daft, but it certainly is an unusual resolution. What would you recommend? Greg (193)
443917 2006-04-05 12:36:00 1920 * 1200 on a 15" laptop (native resolution - anything lower and edges blur)

Thank goodness for Ctrl + on Firefox which does a great job of resizing text ;) :p

Photos look great though :)

443919 2006-04-05 22:17:00 1024 x 768 on 14" Mac iBook, works well for me.
Never use full screen, don't completely cover my desk with papers either.
