694496 2008-08-05 04:44:00 thanks for your help but those power supplies are over $100 :/

What you're looking for doesn't exist!

if you want a big gfx card, you need a big PSU to run it.

The 300w you have now is barely sufficient to run your current PC without the gfx card, let alone with the gfx card, and certainly not your new PC. Save up, get a decent PSU.

If you change the rest of the PC, and leave that PSU, you're dicing with death in all honesty. The PSU is the only part in a PC that everything is connected to. It needs to be good quality, and powerful enough to handle the load you're putting on it, with room for upgrades, and then a bit of headroom. You're getting a nice PC, don't skimp on one part, or it will come back to bite you.

694498 2008-08-05 05:55:00 well if i bough the psu meant for the graphics cards only i would have $100 left

any suggestions on a new psu? ($100 limit -.-)

The point is that you DON'T buy the PSU for the GFX cards, and just get one for the whole computer... It's just a little bit silly otherwise.

How much do you have to spend all told?

694499 2008-08-06 04:42:00 I think i found a good psu for $99 www.etccomputers.co.nz
I'm not gonna get the psu for the gfx cards...
Ill stick to the 8600gt:badpc: (NEVER BUY THIS!) for now

694500 2008-08-06 05:24:00 dian77, that PSU is rubbish, most new gfx cards require 20-30amps, that PSU only has 16 & 17a...not enough.

If you want a decent PSU, I can let you have a Silverstone 650w with 54amps for $150 brand new never used, you wont find it cheaper in NZ

Dian, get that PSU. The one you have found is very average.
