2006-04-08 00:31:00 | I'm about to switch to Xnet. Someone mentioned they have a referral program. I'll have to look back through the old threads to see who wanted credit for me signing up & find out how to let XNet know. I went with Xnet last November, and have found them to be great. Have referred two other family members, and they haven't had any problems. I like not having to have my tolls with my internet provider (even though I do - it's a bonus, not a hotsgae situation). The speed is fine, and the cap is sufficient. I recommend Xnet wherever I go, and just regret I didn't make the leap sooner. Lizard

2006-04-08 00:37:00 | Well im with worldnet after finally sticking out my year with rip off xtra. $44.00 a month 2mb speed 10gb data cap, National traffic is free, so NZ game servers chew nothing off the 10gig. Cheap tolls, and they dont charge you $10 extra bucks if you choose not to go with there tolls. Ive had no problems with them at all. IMO they are the best out there by far. Is that worldnet or WorldXchange (Xnet)? I just checked out worldnet, and they do charge you more if you don't have tolls with them, and they don't mention anything about free national traffic...

2006-04-08 01:40:00 | Who: Xtra Why: At the time we went to broadband they had the better deal going. Ihug had a slightly better deal, but because of issues we had with them (2 seperate accounts - dialup) my partner and I discounted them. However we won't be staying with them long term, I can see in 6 months to a year we'll be changing.. mainly coz of an issue we had when we first joined. They billed us for a dialup account as well as broadband, even although my partner and I hadn't had a dialup account with them for 4 years. Also the fact there are others out there, you cant always stick with one thing when there might be better out there.

2006-04-08 01:46:00 | I am with Xtra and am still wondering when we are going to get "cheaper" broadband. Sure, I get "faster" and and a bigger allowance,,,,,,, All well-in-good, but cheaper would have been nicer! I am on Explorer: 3.5mbs, 5GB Allowance, $49.95 - Any better plans about for the same or less money?

2006-04-08 09:04:00 | Paradise... on a cable modem I'm sticking with them because with the new plans i quadruple my cap from 5 to 20 GB, and it costs me a dollar less a month. I went with them originally because when i had a ihug dish on my roof, and went over the cap. The bill inspired a the removal of the ihug card, and a call to Telstra to get a cable modem added to the phone service... Why Telstra in the first place? Within a day of telecom telling me it was going to cost me $240 to get 2 phone numbers diverted to lines on my other street entrance, a Telstra sales person came by and offered free connections to "make up for the digging up of Wilson's Road". A fortunate coincidence indeed! I was thinking of jumping ship seeing the Telstra plans have been failing to reflect the reduced costs per user that the other ISPs have been able to show now that the internet has caught on a bit more. The new plans change that... looks like i'm with Telstra till i move.

Stick that to TELECOM!! hahahaha They think that they are fast ... look again! |

2006-04-08 12:30:00 | I joined Worldnet eight months ago after extensive research on plans, speeds, data caps, etc and have been very happy with their 2M service . It's very competivly priced and their toll calls are cheap too . They supplied their own router to me and paid the Telecom connection fee . I have only lost my ADSL connection once in eight months, for about 10 minutes . For an extra $15 a month they will give you 10MB of web space, completely free domain name registration (ie . no annual fee) and four mail boxes in your domain name . They respond to E-mail enquiries promptly but their telephone support can be problematic as the company is predominantly staffed by people for whom English is not their first language . All up, I am very happy with their service and recommend them to friends whenever the opportunity arises .

2006-04-08 12:31:00 | I want to see a speed test for someone who has that plan. What kind of download speeds can you actually expect with it? | george12 (7) | |
2006-04-08 13:44:00 | There's really no comparison you can make judged on someones speed unless you're neighbours. How Telecom currently have it, you share your connection with possibly 50 others, so you would never reach your max speed. I have heard they are thinking of having 150 being shared but it hasn't been confirmed I don't think and what would that mean, that you'd still only get speeds upto the max, but does not mean you'll ever get near it. So at peak hours, you can expect slower than dial up going by some ISPs. Cheers, KK
