444261 2006-04-06 23:31:00 I use a Alcatel Speed Touch 310 USB. When I first got it about 12 months ago, I was connecting at around 4.2 Mbps. I then moved to the 256 kbps / 3GB plan and my adsl modem reported 320kbps. I then upgraded to the 2 Mbps plan / 10GB plan and I was connecting at 4.2 Mbps again. Lately I am connecting at 3.6 Mbps. Which is not bad. When I download multiple files, I am getting over 300 KBytes/s total. If each stream is added up.

It may be worth checking your total download speeds by downloading multiple files from multiple locations and totalling it up, rather than just one file. Remember you are limited by your TCP Windows size, and other parameters in your TCP settings. Downloading multiple files will give your multiple TCP windows for each actual connection.

Be sure to check out www.mdgx.com for some good tips on tweaking your PC settings for ADSL

I've been on 2Mbps for ages, this rubbish started about this Tuesday.
I always got a nice 200 odd download speed. Until now.
