444251 2006-04-05 21:53:00 Interestingly my speed in the last couple of days has now gone to %$#.
I should be getting my usual 2mbps but while the router reports 4288 down, I get around 400kbps.
Telecom has just said do the test 3 times a day and email the results after 3 days. Hmmmmm.

444252 2006-04-05 23:57:00 When does your bandwidth cap starts again?

Who’s your ISP? Xtra?

PS: I think that 4288 down is ready for the new 3.5M, as I think we also seen it on our router.....

444253 2006-04-06 00:21:00 Yea, 4288 is what our router shows at work now that we have gone to the 3.5Mb download / 512k upload. CYaBro (73)

444257 2006-04-06 09:59:00 We are with Xtra and now showing download speeds in the router diagnostic of close to 3mbps but a download speed test gives us 270kbps (from Xtra) - on our old plan we showed a diagnostic speed of 370kbps (our plan was 256) so I dont think it has kicked in yet.(I hope not).... but the monthly allowance already has

Moaned at Xtra this morning. Got them to refund me. I told them I'll expect to be refunded or charged at the 256kb plan rate until its resolved. They said "Telecom don't guarantee the full speed". I told him in light of their advertising all over TV claiming an increase in speed, and the fact that its been consistently under not just 3.5mbps, 2mbps but under 1mbps, and half the country is complaining, then why would I pay full price? Why would I not, say, dump them and get Woosh - then I'd be expecting rubbish speeds and paying rubbish speed price.
He refunded me.
He also said the technical team is looking into it. They supposedly are treating them on an individual basis. I suggested they bump it up seeing as he admitted heaps of people are complaining about the same thing - therefore indicating a major stuff up at their end.
Their adsl_helpdesk@xtra.co.nz box is full. They have also told me to keep noting the speeds and emailing it. So I said I'd continue to add to their overfull mailbox.

444259 2006-04-06 23:04:00 They (xtra) send a mail regarding the upgrade...and I think its showing...the changes...on the router...but no change in speeds while downloading...

Downstream/ Upstream
Connection rate 4288 Kbps/ 160 Kbps

Attenuation 17.0dB 41.0dB

444260 2006-04-06 23:13:00 Tks for the post and advice, looks like something I will need to do as well. If my usage shows me as having gone to 5 gig and my router is telling me I have a download speed approaching 3mbps (then I am assuming the plan has been changed) but my actual is only 270mbps then we to have a problem.
