695273 2008-08-06 04:57:00 hey guys I'm gonna change ISP so i was wondering about xnet
I did research but it seems old (early 2007 to early 2008)

Is Xnet slow at night?
Anyone got Xnet in Auckland?
Is Xnet better than Telecom for gaming?
Do you lose connection often from Xnet?

2. Me, its better than dialup

3. Pass, dont play online games

4. No. Unless they have outages. It'll say this on the Xnet site. But if its out for a while, you have the option of dialup, if u have a modem.

5. Also, if you do play games, according to the Xnet site, if you go through Gameplanet, for downloads and use their game servers, (its counted as local traffic), and they dont count towards your monthly data usage.

It also depends on what plan you go on

695276 2008-08-06 21:22:00 If you haven't already seen it, there's a whole forum for Xnet (as well as other ISPs) on www.geekzone.co.nz. It really helped me when we were deciding to switch over to Xnet. We are on the Fusion plan and were previously on Woosh wireless.

To answer your questions:

Is Xnet slow at night?
- I think there are some issues with speed during peak times in the evenings but I would think that's going to be the same with most ISPs? Nothing noticeable for me anyway.

Anyone got Xnet in Auckland?
- Yup, we're on the North Shore

Is Xnet better than Telecom for gaming?
- Can't compare to Telecom but hugely better than Woosh wireless (no surprises there). My boyfriend is into XBox online gaming and doesn't experience lag (except sometimes during peak times but only a little bit)

Do you lose connection often from Xnet?
- Nope, not once. Our telephone did get all crackly and unuseable for a couple of days during the storms recently, but considering we still had power etc I am counting that as a minor inconvience, esp compared to lots of other people out there!

Hope this helps.
Cheers
