2006-04-15 22:12:00 | I have one, well mine has the 80Gb HDD, whatever exact model that is. Its great! Terrific! | pctek (84) | |
2006-04-15 22:44:00 | I bought the DVDR560H model which has the larger hard drive 160GB. Previously I had the DVDR890 model which gave up the ghost. The laser reader failed and Philips response was "we don't make this laser any more." Great after only 3 years! Anyway I got a good deal on the new one, which is actually much easier to set up and operate. Using the HDD to record on is a great idea, especially with the flexitime mode. I like it. I must say that while I thought the mess of cables behind my computer was a nightmare, the cabling behind the TV, decoder and recorder is becoming just as confusing. So both have become "if it works, leave it alone" projects. Cheers

2006-05-12 02:15:00 | Like Hitech we have just recently bought a Philips DVD Recorder 520H (80gb) - can someone please tell me if it is possible to record one TV channel whilst watching another? We have Sky &, being of the older generation & not being technically minded, we don't know whether it is us that doesn't know what we are doing, or whether it is because of the Sky decoder or whether this unit just does not do what we want it to do. We have read the manual but can't seem to find the info we want (they are written in their own language, of course :annoyed: ). Would appreciate any help we can get kiwiyumyum

Yes you can watch other channels while recording - what you can't do is record a Sky channel while recording another Sky channel. You have to use your TV's tuner to watch the other channel whilst the recorder is set to another input (on mine AV4) |

2006-05-13 11:08:00 | Got one of these about 2 months ago and we're reletively happy with it. The only thing I don't like is having to remember to turn it off before it will "timer record'. | Standing_Amazed (7841) | |
2006-05-13 22:11:00 | I don't have one as yet,but brother does, like the fact you get thumb nails of what is on hard drive.I have a habit of recording over stuff on vcr due to lack of system. Wife says lets watch sos and so,now all I have to do is find it. :yuck:
