445525 2006-04-10 12:15:00 Reporting back now on ninja's suggestions:

I have no unrecognisable toolbars marked. The taskbar is the only one ticked.

Unlocking the taskbar makes no difference to my re-adjusting efforts.

And the useful double-ended arrow won't appear there, although it does on other areas.

445526 2006-04-10 12:37:00 Is the grey part coming off the bottom of the firefox, or the top of the taskbar? roddy_boy (4115)
445527 2006-04-10 12:48:00 Thst's hard to say just looking - but I guess it's coming off the top of the taskbar, as it doesn't move.
But Firefox moves when I scroll the page.
Is that what you mean?

445528 2006-04-10 12:50:00 Google Mozbackup - download it - use it to backup Firefox

Uninstall Firefox then delete the Mozilla Firefox folder in Program files: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

Then delete the Firefox profile folder along with its contents
C:\Documents and Settings\Laura\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox

Reinstall firefox

Use Moxbackup to restore your old settings

Mozbackup website mozbackup.jasnapaka.com

The file you need ftp.cesnet.cz

445529 2006-04-10 12:55:00 Drastic measures, Rob - but I guess that makes sense if there's no obvious fix.

Might leave that until tomorrow - remembering how long it'll all take on Dialup...

Still, at least I learned how to do a screenshot.

445530 2006-04-10 12:56:00 What happens when you restore down - the middle button between close and minimise or resize the firefox window??

Right click the task bar - that grey thingy across the bottom - Toolbars - switch off all toolbars.

445531 2006-04-10 12:58:00 Reboot the computer. may work.

Try all my suggestions in reverse order.

445532 2006-04-10 13:07:00 When I restore down, nothing happens except a tiny wriggle - then the screen looks as before.

I unticked the taskbar (which was the only toolbar ticked anyway) but that only gives me the arrow which will move it upwards & enlarge it.
That doesn't reduce the extra problem chunk, though.
Nothing I've tried seems to have any effect on it.

445533 2006-04-10 13:22:00 Nope, rebooting changed nothing - except I've lost my Quick Launch icons now.
Looking more like a Firefox re-install every minute...
