| 446940 | 2006-04-17 10:10:00 | no-one said anything about banning religion, Actually I did. I'm not saying I like the idea but if the majority identifies with christian ideas/morals (as they change how politics work) then democracy must follow this Why? Just because most of the world is bonkers? And its not just Christians anyway. |

ALL religion should be banned, both Christian and Non-Christian. The world will be a much better place once the human race eventually realises this fact. And while on the subject, read what the idiot Pope (www.sploid.com) said in his easter ramblings. |

| 446942 | 2006-04-17 10:19:00 | Actually I did. ok, yes you did, and it would be nice for it to happen, but most muslims/christians/mormons/destiny church victims/jews would all like all the other religions including aetheism banned. but thats not the thread topic, nor is any of the rest to follow... it kinda goes both ways. u cant argue with insane people, they think the same of you, so how do you find who is right? one person's "act of god" can be another's mere coincidence (for the record i'm an aetheist who thinks religion isnt bad at its core, but gets screwed by all the dogmatic prejudice and "god" stuff. get rid of all that and what are you left with? rational thought: also known as aetheism!) did i spell that right? |

ROFLOL thats funny yet sadly true. and as to your first statement:  if only it could happen, then all the countries could unite as one like a global USA with countries as states... how could we war then? PLUS no weird cults/factions/martyrs causing civil unrest due to "the war" or "the infidels" or "the gays". but i doubt it would happen, the usa wouldnt want do ditch their dollar and allow free trade now, would they? |

People would start worshipping, say Fisher & Paykel, and others Mitsibushi, and wars would break out . It's more to do with a deep want to belong, and we are so factionalised and fractionalised we clump together in groupings that temporarily do something towards calming that . We've got a lot to learn . A hundred years ago we were tightly bound in our national identities and cultures were more or less homogenous . Now the world is all mixed together and it's going to take us all a while to adjust . |

| 446946 | 2006-04-17 10:42:00 | i see your point, but if we BAN religion . . . . and unless mitsibishi says toyota is evil i cant see the issue, holden already says ford is evil and vice versa and its not THAT bad (just dont talk to a holden about fords or vice versa) actually, its like telling mum that motox is a sport lol! (it honestley requires more physical exertion than even waterpolo or rugby) |

| 446947 | 2006-04-17 10:45:00 | Religion doesn't have a place in politics, because if one religion becomes law, then that takes away the freedom of others to have their own religion. Democracy isn't just about majority rule, but it's also about protecting the rights of minorities. Those who say that religion should be banned are also the same people who believe religion is some stories made up by man (obviously). Therefore wars were never really started by religion, they where started by man. |

| 446949 | 2006-04-17 10:51:00 | >Religion has been the cause of most of the wars throughout history. It should >be banned. Religion as such does not need not be banned. If we look at Ireland we have Protestants vs Catholics and England stepped in as well which apparently did not help. The two rather big wars we had were the First World War and the Second World War in the last Century. These two wars where over terrtory as well were they not? You might go back to the Crusades even which were certainly based on Religion. >And there have always been holidays, its just that when it became a bad thing >to be other than Christian, the churches took over the existing holidays and >made them "christian". Where do you think the eggs and rabbits came from? Pagan as I thought. Then of course we have far more recent wars like Vietnam, Malaya, Iraq and maybe be even an upcoming one like Iran. |
