Have been a fair bit of catching up on my reading...or lack of, and was wondering if other PF1 people read and if so what do you read?

:D
I spose the obvious one is can you read? :p

I used to read horror, and mystery and such, and then went off that for a while and got into fiction and non fiction in a big way, and have just read the first Patricia Cornwell? that was reccomended to me, less than 24hrs and the book is finished....hmmmmm

Would like to hear about authors, or books you really like to read?

i have been told by many a geek, sci fi and fantasy are a geeks lot? is this true?

:D

447173 2006-04-18 07:22:00 I read horror, science fiction and mystery, all rolled into a single volume usually.

And that's just the reports I have to read and try and make sense of for work .....

447176 2006-04-18 07:58:00 I read mostly Science Fiction. Hard science fiction to be specific, mostly.

I hate how everyone, including most bookshops, lump science fiction and fantasy into one group, as if they have any remote relationship with each other.
Fantasy is a whole nother genre. A stupid one too.

447177 2006-04-18 08:49:00 George Orwell (1984/Animal Farm)
Hunter S. Thompson (Fear and loathing, The Rum Diaries)
Albert Camus (The Stranger - British translation)
Lewitt (Freakonomics)
Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club, Choke etc)
Albert Camus (all this stuff)
Mario Prezo (The Godfather)
Irvine Welsh (anything of his)

Plus heaps more I forget, anything and everything.

I have a very long list of Authors. Patricia Cornwell is among them. I would read toilet paper if it was not printed with flowers.

Genre has never been important to me as I have read Horror, SciFi, Fantasy, Crime, Mystery, Westerns, Humour etc.

I must admit that I'm not into Biographies and I usually read Fiction rather than Fact. Escapism really I think.

Having said that I also like books set in NZ and or Australia as I can imagine myself walking down the same street as it were. Some Authors research factual matters very well and others don't.

447179 2006-04-18 09:22:00 If you like Patricia Cornwell try Kathy Reichs as I and other people I know think she is a better writer.
Also Harlen Coben, all his books are excellent.
Then there is Dan Brown who did The Da Vinci Code but I think his other books are better - Angels & Demons - Deception Point - Digital Fortress.

447181 2006-04-18 09:55:00 I tend to read fantasy. R.A. Salvatore is a good author. Greven (91)
