How about RTS? Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds is a cool Star Wars themed rendition of Age of Empires/Kings.

A good bet for game reviews is to check Bruce Buckman's in the PCWorld magazine.

ps - PM me if you'd like me to put you in contact with one of my brothers who is a major gamer (non-commercial) and buys and sells frequently.

447087 2006-04-17 22:23:00 Rise of Legends is looking promising. I'm going to try and stick the demo on the next DVD (June issue). Biggles (121)
447088 2006-04-17 23:25:00 I haven't found any RTS games that can trump Zero Hour since it came out, but if game play is more important to you than graphics, get yourself a copy of Starcraft & the brood war expansion pack.

I've been quite disapointed with the games that have been coming out lately. I'm sick of FPS games & RTS seems to be dieing out in favour of the RTS/RPG cross. I loved Zero Hour & hated warcraft 3. My friend was the opposite. It looks like he won :(

447089 2006-04-17 23:37:00 No RTS has ever replaced Total Annihilation in my affections - at least for multiplay. Biggles (121)
447090 2006-04-17 23:58:00 personally I believe generals and zero hour are the poorest excuses for c&c games ever but thats just me... and everyone else I know :p. Anyways I think for rts it doesnt get a lot better than dawn of war and its expansion lagbort (5041)

Personally I couldn't understand it because I felt it was only a poor clone of C&C. Greg (193)

As a single player game it wasn't much. But as a multiplayer game it rocked. Making your own maps was dead easy with the map editor, and with the expansions, and downloadable units it grew better than the original release. We played it 2 on2 over the LAN and had huge amounts of fun. Matches could go on for 3 hours if you got hunkered down in a base and at the time of its release its graphics were really great. There were addicts online for years who modded it all to heck and campaigned to get the source code put in the public domain so fans could make TA2.
