Invercargill - Cabbage Tree and Ziffs ( both Otatara), Lone Star - good food and plenty of it, if a little noisy. Canton, Hong Kong, and China City are all good too. Bombay Palace for Indian cuisine. Some people like Flanagans sea food restaurant but in 20 years I've never had a completely satisfactory meal there. If you want to try an honest sea food place, Kings near the Civic Theatre is an institution. Overall I like Ziffs but being a bar/restaurant it can also be noisy. Nice food. |

| 447027 | 2006-04-17 23:15:00 | Howl at the moon is a good place in Gore, but why would you want to go to Gore? If you like steak, there is nowhere better in Southland than Ainos Steakhouse (in Wailkiwi - I hope I spelt that right) Ziffs is great. I've never been to the cabbage tree. |

We are between Gore and Invercargill, in fact Gore is slightly closer so we have often gone to Gore instead, depending where we want to go to exactly . It does have a Post Office, Mitre10, petrol stations and so on . No particular reason to go the other direction unless we want a specific shop or premises . Not really a steak fan . . . . . . . . Not really been a fan of cafe/bars as opposed to actual restaurants either, but that is just from what the ones I've been to previously have been like, more lunch type food than full on chef type creations . . . . So, I think it might be a toss up between Reds and Kings this time . No doubt we will be here long enough to try them all eventually . . . . Thanks for the opinions . . . |

| 447029 | 2006-04-18 02:00:00 | I just hate Gore, the people there are just terrible, rude, and trouble makers . The Gorons just come to town and cause trouble . Maybe its just the young bogans that make a bad reputation for the town . Some friends and I were passing through Gore one day, driving round checking out the town, we get tail gated, abused at and getting cut off because they just felt the need to pick on a holden (they were driving old fords) . You give other drivers on the open road a friendly wave, but they dont wave back . The KFC is terrible,uncooked chicken, dirty tables etc oh and no offence to the pressf1 members from Gore, you are nice people . :), thats about it . |
