696337 2008-08-10 10:09:00 Evening all,
I come with bowed head, seeking enlightenment.
Question: I have always been under the impression that you can add files, etc. to a re-writeable CD, but not to a CD-R. Am I correct?
I can find no reference to adding to a CD-r in any book or magazine, or on Nero or the XP manual [XP the Missing manual by David Pogue] that I have.
Even on the Microsoft help site, they tell you how to burn files to a disc with Vista, but do not tell you which disc to use.
I have been told, not to close the session, but that information does not show on any screen I have seen when burning a CD-r.
Any advice would be most appreciated. I await with bated breath.

696338 2008-08-10 11:16:00 On a CD-r if you don't close/finalise it you can keep adding files to it until it is full. Your burning software should have the option to turn that off or on.

Do try to use the same software when doing this though, as it can sometimes fail. Which usually leaves the most recent session open, but previous sessions can be lost.

696341 2008-08-11 07:14:00 I thank you all. It must be to do with the program I am using, {Nero} Nowhere can I find reference to multi-session or otherwise.
Any further ideas, or steps to take appreciated.

Convinced, as one gets older, memory cells tend to lose their retention properties.

696342 2008-08-11 07:38:00 CD burner XP and burnaware free are 2 really good free versions that do it but so should Nero gary67 (56)
696343 2008-08-11 08:05:00 The multisession switch is on the Final Burn screen (www.imagef1.net.nz) in Nero (v7 anyway). feersumendjinn (64)
696344 2008-08-11 08:08:00 Thankyou, I will try again. It would not surprise me if when Nero was installed, I did/did not tick all the boxes. Hate programs putting icons on screen or in task bar. Will look into it. escort1557 (13641)
696345 2008-08-11 08:21:00 Feersumendjinn, you are great, thankyou.
My old employer used to say, "read the screen". If I had done so for this problem, I would have seen the 'session' box , and ticked it accordingly.

Humbly bow my head in shame and thank you all for pointing out my indiscretion.
