696158 2008-08-09 21:37:00 Hi Guys

I have been on Firefox 3 since it came out and in general like it very much.

However, it does seem to crash out quite a bit on sites such as the NZ Herald and Stuff.

Do you think this could be
a) My machine
b) Firefox
c) The Herald and Stuff's web site ?

696160 2008-08-09 21:45:00 It doesn't happen to me on Firefox 3. It's either your computer or a bad add-on. pcuser42 (130)
696161 2008-08-09 21:54:00 Possibly a combination of all three.

What extensions/plugins do you have installed? You might also benefit from NoScript (addons.mozilla.org). If specific websites are affecting your browser it will be because of JS and plugins. I don't use it personally but with NoScript you can block all JS and plugins but whitelist certain domains (*youtube.com for example).

696162 2008-08-09 22:58:00 Works fine for me with several plugins gary67 (56)
696163 2008-08-10 00:08:00 No problem here with 3.0.1, it's probably your PC (something to do with things outside of FF) Agent_24 (57)
696164 2008-08-10 00:11:00 There are known problems with Firefox 3 and older versions of Microsoft Silverlight. A change Mozilla made in the way plugins work with the browser causes problems for Silverlight, and can result in FF3 crashing without explanation. I believe it is addressed in the latest update for Silverlight.

You should also check that you don't have any other add-ons (themes, extensions) which are known to have problems with FF3.

696165 2008-08-10 02:52:00 It will be C) as I cant open Stuff in Firefox 1.0.7 with out it crashing, so I think it may be a bit of code in the website that firefox does not like. stu161204 (123)
696166 2008-08-10 04:00:00 Weird I spent half the morning on Stuff catching up with the Olympics in FF3 no problems gary67 (56)
696167 2008-08-12 22:24:00 Hi Guys

Thanks for the suggestions etc.

I have tried those two sites Stuff and The Herald with Internet Explorer and they do not crash ! !

But sometimes an "Information Box" comes up saying that an Active X control for Adobe may need installing !

So I think I may have to do something Firefox 3.00.
