| 696126 | 2008-08-09 11:20:00 | I did a search, but couldn't really find anything helpful. I made the mistake of getting Vista installed on my HTPC and after coming to my senses I decided to remove it. Upon installing XP I've hit a massive brick wall. :crying After going through the boot process and installing the XP setup files to the HDD it just constantly restarts itself. My HDD and DVD are both SATAII so aren't supported by XP, but both can be seen in my BIOS and on top of that I don't have a floppy drive... (who does these days...) Specs. Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H 2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 Athlon 64 5600 Dual Core 350GB Seagate SATAII I'm dying here and have tried nLite and slipstreamed SP2 to the installation files as well as my SCSI drivers, but it didn't work. |

| 696127 | 2008-08-09 11:22:00 | If it's for HTPC use then I would stay with Vista. The Windows Media Center included with Home Premium & Ultimate are a lot better than the old XP MCE 2005. In regards to your problem it doesn't sound like a SATA driver issue. If it was the XP setup would tell you it hasn't detected a hard drive and the setup wouldn't continue. |
