696063 2008-08-09 02:04:00 Hi, Hope someone can help me. I am trying to do a system recovery on my son's computer. I put disk 1 in and it reads it but when it asks for disk 2, it opens the dvd drive and will not accept that disk. i get an error saying "this is not the requested CD, please insert disk 2" but I can not get the drive to open. Any suggestions? I just want to clear this computer out! Thanks Kim Using a compaq 6000 win xp tkbloomfield (14063)

Has the drive had problems with other disks?

Is the disk your using scratched or warped?

696065 2008-08-09 04:03:00 yea I've found that dvd drives sometimes have trouble reading an ordinary CD.

There's probably better ways, but is it was me I'd simply turn the computer off, whip the cover off and unplug the dvd cables temporarily.

Then boot up again and go through your recovery process - this time the CD should open again when the second disc request is made.

If it still doesn't accept it as the correct disc, then it is either scratched or can't be read for some reason.
