448526 2006-04-22 12:02:00 I want a telecom, near or under $200. Any suggestions on what is good?

I am hoping that a few of you will be able to tell me details such as what ones to avoid, or reccomend a phone etc.

448527 2006-04-22 12:18:00 Just to be wickedly unhelpfull.

www.vodafone.co.nz

I have hated every phone I have ever had, untill I picked up this baby. Though apparently I somehow used up $36 bucks worth of weather reports, and have taken a good 60 photos of the inside of my pocket....

dont start this crap again maccrazy, consider yourself warned. dont slander telecom mobiles handsets unless you can comment. i am now on my 8th cdma phone and i have nothing but praise for them, they often outperform my friends vodafones interms of signal, and their features are, while not as advanced as some vodafone handsets (remember cdma1x2000 is much much faster than the vodafone 3g network) they are constantly upgrading their handset range, the nokia 6265 is a fantastic phone, same with the harrier, same with the 6255, and the sanyo range is nothing to laugh about. plus the cdma network is much more secure, i know that if i report my phone stolen, it cannot be used again in nz, even if they try and reprogamme it. unlike vodafone's blatently open network. heck, i know of a friend who can compleltely reprogramme a gsm with new esn etc.

448532 2006-04-22 14:10:00 yea one bar is enough to send text

Normally a mobile dont use much signal unless you text, mms, gprs or make a call. This is where your mobile will then use more power to gather enough signal

I think you may see that if you make a call the signal bar should increase by two. I was in eltham where there were only 1 bar then dropped to zero.Had difficult texting but I made a 777 which boosted the signal to 4 out of 10 and then I hung up and the text went thru.

Hmm yea..I like Gsm Mobiles more.I am patiently waiting for the new Nokia N72

448534 2006-04-23 01:50:00 dont start this crap again maccrazy, consider yourself warned. dont slander telecom mobiles handsets unless you can comment.Yeah, sorry that might have been a bit harsh, they aren't that bad (and as I said there are some exceptions) but in general I think that Vodafone offers better value. Everyone has their own opinion though - and mejobloggs' reason for wanting a Telecom phone is a perfectly logical one. :) maccrazy (6741)
448535 2006-04-23 05:46:00 I had a Nokia 2280 until I lost it somehow. I think it fell out of my pocket on the bus, or walking home from the bus. I have rung the bus company, but they couldn't find it.

Is there any way to get my original number back when I get a new phone?
