448470 2006-04-22 07:50:00 Hi There

I have a question

Im trying to do a menu panthlet for a friend for her takeaway shop and Im experiencing a bit of a problem

I am printing the page using layout mode and I have set it to two columns.

On the 3rd page which is still using the same piece of paper the menu carries on at the back. How do I tell microsoft word to print the 3rd page behind the 1st page and not in a entirely new page?

Thanks for the help

448471 2006-04-22 09:32:00 Hi there

Can you please make your problem a little clearer?

How does a pamphlet get into three pages, is it a booklet?
Is is a single sheet of page folded into thirds?

Have you tried highlighting the selection you want printed, then click, File/Print/Selection if thats what you are after.

448472 2006-04-22 09:52:00 Tell us how the menu is layed out.
I made a takeaway menu for my parents T/A 6 years ago.

Are you using portrait or landscape.
Is this a copy of an original or something or you doing a completly new one from scratch?

Logo? Name address and phone of T/A?

Take some pamphlets off some food places and take a look at them.

448473 2006-04-22 11:51:00 The old panthlet is with me.I just need to update it and hand it to someone else to do the front page

We have an A4 piece of paper folded in half.Landscape layout.

The first page is the front page.Somebody else is doing that.

The 2nd,3rd and 4th page contains the food and the prices at the shop.

In microsoft word I have divided the page into two columns.Finished typing the 2nd,3rd and 4th page.

Now to print it out.

I want the 4th page to be printed behind the 3rd page.

Does that make sense?

Its an open book panthlet with two columns

448474 2006-04-22 12:25:00 Hi,
I'm thinking that 'Publisher' might be easier to do this type of thing than using 'Word'.
I am still trying to understand your layout, even had a go at folding a piece of paper to get it. When you go to print, it would print page 2 & 3 then can't you just turn the paper over or rotate to get the 4th page to print on the back of page 3?

Hmm I just opened publisher and It has alot of blank templates . I looked at the one called Tent card but the folding should be vertical not horizontal .

Anyway

Get an A4 paper . Hold it as a landscape layout . Now Fold it in half . Now the folding line should be on the left and you should be able to flip the right hand side of the paper to open it like a book .
The page that is right in front of you before you open the panthlet is the first page .
If you lift it up . You will then see that there are two more pages and there's the folding line thru the middle . The folding line should be vertical splitting the paper into two more pages inside .
The left hand side is the 2nd page . The right hand side is the 3rd page .
If we flip the paper over that would be the 4th page which is the back page behind the 3rd page

I want microsoft word to print the 4th page which is the final page at the behind the 3rd page .

Do you guys know what I mean?Lol . . Having a bit of problems explaning .

Can't I set microsoft to make a new 4th page and have it print behind the 3rd page? . The only way I can have the 4th page printed behind the 3rd page is to put the same piece of paper back to the printer and set it so that it will print it behind the 3rd page when it comes out?

Are you confused?

448476 2006-04-23 05:25:00 In 'Publisher' you should have templates for Menus. There are a few in there to choose from. I saw one for Takeaways.
In 'Word' I would have thought that the printer would tell you to rotate the paper to get the 4th page to print behind the 3rd page. You might have to tell it to print page 2 & 3 & then turn the paper over.

Hell yes.

I agree that publisher would be easier but as a thought, why not use something like greeting card templates. Just delete the content and replace it with your stuff. Is that the sort of format you are after?

448478 2006-04-23 06:58:00 Hi there

Ive got the idea now. You want to leave Publisher alone though, it will print all 4 pages on One side of a sheet of paper, but youll need to fold that then glue thi insides together to make the pamphlet you are after, but that messy, unprofessional and very small.

Som hers what you need to do.

Print out pages 2 & 3 on one side of a sheet of paper.
Make up Page 4, but place it where Page ! would go. Page 1 goes where Page 4 should go.

Next you place the Pg 2&3 upside down in your printer, then print out Page 4.

Finally, fold your sheet of paper, and you then have your pamphlet everything the right way around.

448479 2006-04-23 11:24:00 See if your printer software comes with/supports 'duplex printing' (office.microsoft.com)

This will allow it to print on both sides.

What you might want to do is do two pages.

Page one would be Takeaway name/logo and menu 4.

Page two would be the inside. menu two and three.

What you could do (like JohnW said) is print page one, swap the paper and then do page two.

Is that logo going to be already printed on? Or will it be inserted onto the page as an image?
