448328 2006-04-21 23:45:00 Can anyone recommend a Genealogy Programme?. I am a beginner and have had a look at "PAF" which appears to do all I want at present but I am wondering if with more experience there may be a better programme I should start with?. Pato (2463)
448329 2006-04-22 00:47:00 Everyone interested in this subject, will reply with their own favourite. Brother Keeper is another you could look at. They all create GEDCOM files, which is the standard in the Genealogy Industry.

So then, what ever you choose, and load data into, as long as you save it as a GEDCOM, it can be imported into any other Genealog program. BUT it may not always come out the same, in that there may be small variations and some missing data.

Look around and see what you like the look of, then stick to that.

448330 2006-04-22 02:57:00 Family Tree Maker is by far the best available.Legacy is very popular, but only because you can get a free version of it.
There are several more availabe, varying from mediocre to poor.
PAF is also free. And thats a fair price.

448331 2006-04-22 03:09:00 There's quite a few of them on May's Netguide CD.

Genuis Family Tree 2.10, Greatfamily 2.2, Rootsmagic 3.0.4, GenoPro, but these are trials.

Family Tree Maker 2006, Starter Edition , is also on the cd, which is the full version.
