2006-04-19 09:22:00 | Bought an upgrade box from them recently on a dutch auction, it failed after 4 days. Also didn't receive what I paid for, offered was an Athlon 2200+, received a 1800+, plus delivery took almost 2 weeks after 2 emails prompting for action. Numerous emails and helpdesk tickets over a period of 3 weeks went unanswered till now. Stuck with a $440 white elephant seemingly only good for parts. Anyone else experienced the same (lack of) support?

2006-04-19 20:26:00 | Definition: fly-by-night - of businesses and businessmen; "a fly-by-night operation" shady, untrustworthy, untrusty - not worthy of trust or belief; "an untrustworthy person" I have posted the problem in the technical forum, in short the PC shuts down as soon as disk I/O takes place. Replaced all bits like HDD, cards with working test units, same problem. So it leaves either CPU, mobo or PSU as the culprit.

2006-04-19 20:49:00 | What did you expect from Colin Brown? He was dodgy with the PC Company and his FirstIn site is dodgy now. A quick look at the masses of complaints in his forum would have told you that. | pctek (84) | |
2006-04-20 08:40:00 | Bought from them twice a year ago, only good service then. Now, none, nada, zip. Oh well, he picked the wrong person to mess with, my contacts in the IT world is far and wide, so I will be warning people not to buy from him. I will make it my mission to put him out of business, we don't need these kind of people in the business.

2006-04-20 09:45:00 | just dont deal with him, the 2 things i have bought from him took ages to arrive, and i have kept a close eye on his site and the feedback he has gotten, and its not good people. alot of people are being given the run around by him. He acts sympathetic, but nothing usually gets done. typically his prices are not much cheaper (and often more expensive) than retail, even if it was super cheap pc, i know whod id rather deal with. STAY AWAY FROM FIRSTIN

2006-05-01 12:42:00 | I agree with everything in this forum. I should have known better given the PC Company connection but i bought and paid for gear from this outfit over 4 months ago. Apart from emails promising delivery forthwith etc etc i have yet to see my purchase. Stay clear of firstin.co.nz - they can't be relied on in any way to keep their promises

2006-05-10 01:24:00 | I have bought 2 items from FirstIn. The first arrived promptly and was exactly what was ordered. The second...my credit card was processed quite early on, as they had to email me to clarify my expiry date. However the product didn't turn up until almost 2 months later and only after repeated messages on their forums and emailing to every address I could find on their website (many times). Colin eventually said they couldn't find my order and went out and bought the product from a retailer and sent to it me. This was excellent service BUT I shouldn't have had to harass and threaten them with credit card reversals to get it. It would take a spectacular bargain for me to buy from FirstIn again. I think all it would take is one or two people to take them to small claims, or a lot of people to get their payments reversed for things to start happening. I think it's a fantastic business concept but it really needs someone with some customer service skills to oversee it. I do note their 'Suggestions to Imrove FirstIn' forum topic disappeared a while ago and the cynic in me would suggest it was because it was becoming so full of complaints. However this has perhaps bitten them in the ass because now the complaints are spread throughout the entire forum. :D There is another similar site: www.oneday.co.nz (No, I have nothing to do with them at all, I found them from a banner ad on another forum I visit) who don't seem to have such a bad name for themselves and have some OK deals.
