448091 2006-04-26 11:27:00 I use a 1 GB CF card in my S602, with a 128 MB SM card in the second slot as a backup.

Get the gorse out of your pockets.
Buy 2 x 1 GB cards, (but the S5600 only uses xD cards, they are dearer than the CF cards used by the S602)

XD cards are almost twice the price in fact, such a shame ...

Oh well, to think of the 2 years of pleasure I have already had from the S602 and you have yet to experience anything even close. Priceless, really.

Pity the S5600 only has a low resolution viewfinder though, compared to the S602z.
Talking to Scouse and Rob99,they seem to find the view finder most satisfactory and that xtra zoom is so nice,it's true you can carry your haversack of bits to compensate, but its not the same somehow.
The extra one pays for the latest in cards is for the amazing speed of uptake of info that the old cheepo simply can't comprehend.

448092 2006-04-26 11:32:00 No, thats just Cicero making a mountain out of a molehill?

When he eventually buys the molehill of course, until then it's just theoretical.
I would say that pic was taken with a 10x zoom, with the old 6 zoom it does look like a molehill, just the price one pays for not being up with the play.
No need to get upset though, you can alaways take a bus to get a bit closer.

448093 2006-04-26 12:29:00 My s602z has an 11.1 optical zoom actually, so my busfare will be less than yours.

This camera envy thing you have really should stop, ts bad for your stress levels.

And please stop asking to buy it, I keep telling you it's not for sale. You will have to settle for the cheaper plastic imitation called the S5600

448094 2006-04-26 20:02:00 I considered looking for a S602Z in the antiques column,but noted that the S6o2z weighed in at 587 g,the S5600 is 470g.
Asked one chap who seemed to have a few,why that was so,can't give em away he retorted,ah I said, give one to me,with kind of weight will use as boat anchor.

448095 2006-05-07 02:02:00 Batteries don't need an image stabiliser... oh, you mean the camera?
Cut down on the Glenfiddich before breakfast and the shakes will gradually subside. Remember most cameras such as the S5600 may use about 2 mA even when "off" so the batteries will discharge at the rate of up to 50 mAh per day. Applies to my S602 anyway, so I just remove them when not using it for a while.

The S3153 batteries are only $22.46 trade price at DSE, just consider that huge saving!
Are the S3153 batteries rechargeable.Way to go
I would have thought??

448098 2006-05-07 02:31:00 The DSE S3153 are indeed rechargeable Cicero, and recent PC User tests put them at the top of the selection.

However I would recommend getting the "pack", which is 4 batteries and the matching smart charger. Unfortunately the item appears to not be in the stores, but available from the DSE warehouse. Ring your local branch (Rangiora?) and they should have it in a day or so?

www.dse.co.nz

It has the advantage of a 12v charge option when you are out in the Lada as well.

Failing that, I recommend Merivale Photo and Video, in the mall. They have quite good prices and good quality gear. Not the DSE brand, but the Lenmar I got some years ago with charger are still going fine.

Let me say at once, that I shall give merrivale a miss, they had the S5600 on special at $645.
I will take you advice and procure the batteries and kit.Thanks.
My car is a Trabant and it goes well, but no cig lighter, they must have pinched it at the docks.
