449111 2006-05-10 11:31:00 Afraid I have no idea, Though there are currently 2 beta patches making the rounds that incorperate the Nascar content (I wouldn't touch them yet)..Though Im looking foward to some Stock-Car racing.

The announcment of the official BMW F1 car came out of the blue (are those screenshots sick or what?), as did the day earlier announcment of the Panoz Esperante which is another real world car.

Either way, Great updates for rFactor continue to come thick and fast, from the community and ISI.

For the time being I am downloading a newly released F1 mod I chanced upon earlier today, I'll post a screenshot and impressions once I have taken it for a spin, only 455mb to go (my rFactor folder is about 6GB already....)

449112 2006-05-10 11:42:00 Yeah theres alot of talk about the whole BMW Sauber thing. Live For Speed have released it as well. Rfactor is through BMW and LFS through Intel Sam I Am (1679)
449113 2006-05-10 11:50:00 as far as I can tell LFS were given the go ahead on the project before they had sorted out the details, then after the public release of the car it looks like the entire project was instead given to rFactor due to the LFS devs being unable or unwilling to implement some of the specified requirments, All the display stands that were going to run LFS are now running rFactor . Seems the total outcome for LFS will be the car ingame and nothing else, A bit of a shame for LFS if rFactor has stolen some of their thunder, but business is business .

Thats my take on it anyhow, based mostly on speculation and fantasy, and this post by one of the LFS devs on the LFS forum .

So I could be miles off . . . .

Hmm, I see that my original explanation (at RSC) has been taken a bit wrongly and now conspiracy theories and rumours are starting up . So I will try to explain more clearly - without expressing any points of the deal, which I am sure was not intended as public info . I should say this much as it's clear that LFS and rFactor both now have some involvement with the Intel sponsored BMW Sauber . This is causing confusion so I write this post with the best intentions to all sides .

1) We were asked to agree to a list of things as one side of a deal . The request was for a few things including the BMW Sauber .

2) We agreed to the important things on the list, but did not agree to certain smaller points we considered not beneficial to LFS .

3) After some time we received news that rFactor had agreed to all points, and so they got the deal .

4) This does not affect our BMW Sauber F1 . 06 in the public version which is also used for the racing tour .

I hope that explains it more clearly . The parts of the deal we did not decide to agree to, had nothing to do with public or private versions of the game or licensed or unlicensed tracks . Nothing juicy or exciting at all, just some small points on a list, that looked to us, too irrelevant or time consuming to implement .

It's quite funny observing how the rumour mill seems to start up . We mentioned in an interview in ASS, that one of our terms in order to agree to implement the BMW Sauber, was that it would be allowed to be included in the public version . Unfortunately, because this is the only part of the deal which is public knowledge, people have been trying to stick this piece of info, with the other piece of info, and so strange rumours are starting! This is wrong - the things on the list we did not agree to, are small things and not public knowledge at all . I hope that helps!

Please remember that whatever your opinions of who got what deal, it's really great that Intel's involvement with the BMW Sauber team and the efforts of Intel in Germany and BMW Sauber Racing Team, have resulted in the BMW Sauber F1 . 06 being available for us to implement and for you to race . It's a great bonus for Live for Speed and we are very grateful for that .

449114 2006-05-10 12:41:00 I have to say that the Sauber in LFS is insane. And REALLY insane on the street tracks. Sam I Am (1679)
449115 2006-05-10 21:07:00 What is your best mod Metla? mejobloggs (264)
449116 2006-05-11 04:04:00 Another thing Metla. Before racing a car, do you have to tweak the car properly yourself, or is each car already set to a decent racable default? mejobloggs (264)
449117 2006-05-11 10:43:00 Favourite mod?

Hard to say, I generally play quite a few untill frustartion sets in, I have beaten the hell out of the Protoracers and Mclarens, and spent a bit of time with the A1GP over the last couple of weeks...but usually I pick a track and then select a car that suits or one that I would like to try on that track, I have a race series in rFactor that has all the cars available, so I can pick anything to drive and mix up the Ai drivers anyway I chose, This way I can select a F1 car for myself...and make the rest of the feild drive street cars and dune buggies....

Setups.

I generally leave them how they are, Though if its a long track I adjust the gearing to suit, If their are more straights then corners then I ease off the downforce, Of if Im spinning too often I increase the downforce and maybe stiffen the suspension.

But thats only through the basic interface, Im lost when it comes to the 408 billion options in the advanced screens, If Im after a well done setup I just jump on a server and ask someone to send me one, though there is no garentee it will suit my driving stlye.

Its also worth noting that some mods have locked setups, meaning you can change very little, this keeps the feild on an even platform, excellent for online racing.
