696210 2008-08-10 11:04:00 If you're going to do something like install Linux over Vista just to check it out, I think you jumped the gun somewhat.

Most Linux distros have a "Live CD" mode or option that you can use to check it out (try booting off the CD - I think some even auto-run from Windows) before trashing your existing install - then you might have found out "it sux" without giving yourself all the hassle.

If only MS had explored this option when they released Vista they might not have had so many disgruntled former XP users.

Personally - I think Vista looks nice enough (although some of the 3D X environments put it to shame), but I find it bloody annoying - wanting to hold your hand all the time...

696211 2008-08-11 05:13:00 Well, most people aren't techies, and sometimes, go exploring in C:\Windows\System32 trying to find their documents, CVs photos, or whatever. Sometimes, they find system files, and thinks they don't need it 0.o. Well they try and delete it, and then when Windows won't boot, they panic and blame MS. So I'm not surprised that MS added UAC. These people also tend to 'lose' their product key as well...

Anyway, UAC is only a single click, OK or Cancel. Don't know why people make such a fuss about it.

696212 2008-08-11 08:11:00 That's a bit emotional!! There are plenty of other people that might be inclined to say that MSWindows sucks :>(

Did you take any time to find out how it works? It is not the same as Windows.

Thank you very much,

Dude, i would just dual boot and slowly work your way into Linux (Try Ubuntu or Kubuntu) they are very very good and i have gone from a wind0s3 Xp guy to a Kubuntu (dual boot).

Stick with Linux, its a learning curve admittedly, but its fun. I'm new to it but so far haven't found anything it can't do and I recommend Ubuntu...its graphics are wonderful and the on line help is fantastic. Or do the only other sensible thing, install XP.
