696169 2008-08-13 03:55:00 No,

But I did just now, (but it only took a few seconds to install ! ?) and it seems to have fixed it.

Thanks

But I wonder why Firefox did not alert me to that. I was hoping to ditch IE completely. but methinks I had better not just yet.

696170 2008-08-13 04:29:00 And how exactly can u get rid of IE?? Since, its part of XP.

If you try and remove it, it'll probably screw other programs up.

Unless you use something like Nlite

696171 2008-08-13 04:36:00 You sure can dump IE (www.imagef1.net.nz).

You don't want to though, as it is necessary for some windows stuff, mainly Windows Update, but other stuff too.

Feel free to delete the shortcuts to it, but don't remove it completely.

Thanks for that. I will take your advice.

But I love keeping my menus tidy and short and deleting any used programs.

Wratterus, that doesn't actually remove IE from the hard disk, but only the shortcuts to it :)

To run IE after the shortcuts have been removed, type iexplore into the Run command box.

FYI nLite can remove it from the XP disc. I have done that and the system still works fine (www.imagef1.net.nz). I even installed IE7 fine. Just don't remove IE core :). A good test is to see if IE Core is still there is to see if XP's new user accounts page will open.

696174 2008-08-22 07:37:00 I am still having problems with my Firefox 3.00 crashing when using the NZ Herald web site and the stuff web site. I am using XP.

Is it just me ?
Digby (677)
696175 2008-08-22 11:11:00 Update it if its not 3.01 of FF.

See if it makes any diff

696176 2008-08-25 08:12:00 I had a lot of crashes too on Fire Fox 3, always when I was closing browser down. I disabled several non-critical add-ons, eg. interclue, wot and flashblock. Works fine now, hasn't crashed since I disabled these. Am going to try turning each one on again one at a time until I find the one causing my crashes. altezzars200 (14065)
696177 2008-10-12 05:21:00 Not just you, I am getting regular "Firefox needs to close due to an error do you want to send a report to Microsoft bla bla" with NZ Herald. It's usually when there are a few tabs open at once. Damn frustrating. Jester (13)
