449099 2006-05-08 21:24:00 Metla, the only cars I seem to be able to race are the gt2 cars. I think its called 'Grand Prix' (one of the default options).

Any other car just seems to wipe out all the time, heh.

Not that I have done much practice. I think I should try racing online. Online = more fun = more practice.

449100 2006-05-09 10:05:00 Hmmm.....Go easy on the throttle, Slow down for corners, in the basic setup screen adjust the slider for more downforce. Dont be afraid to use driving aids ....though I would only suggest stabiliy control (this stops you sliding out to a certain degree..it scrubs speed instead) and traction control (again it scrubs speed rather then letting you spin the wheels),and perhaps ABS brakes if it makes it easier. You really dont want to use steering or brake help as then the car will pretty much drive itself.

And use manual gears (via the pads on the backside of the wheel, rather then the side mounted gear stick) Brake before changing down the gears, slow down for the entry of the corner and then accelerate out of the corner....

And you can always run private test days, just you and the track, no other cars, should only take a half dozen slow laps before you can start building up speed, if you constantly find you lose it on one or two corners then think about how you can modify your driving, by changing the speed and angle of the aproach or just slowing down and easing back onto the throtte.

Its worth keeping in mind that you cant drive a real car around a corner at full throttle, nor jump on the brakes and slide around it, nor could you apply full throttle in a race car and not expect to instantly lose control. easy on-easy off, Momentum is the key, not hammering it and wrenhing on the wheel.

actually, learing the tracks and the limits of the car is the key.

Or maybe practise is the key.

449101 2006-05-09 13:35:00 One more..

Dont apply the throttle when exiting a corner (just hold her on a tiny amount to keep up momentum, or none at all if entering another tricky section) untill you have the car pointing in the direction you intend to travel in (otherwise, instant spin) roll the throttle on, fire her up a gear, again gentle with the throttle but as you gain speed you go past the point where a fist-full of throttle will cause the car to spin and you can push the pedal to the floor, then either whack her up another gear or button off and set yourself up for the next tricky passage, taking note of gear selection, amount of space needed for braking and how much pressure you will need on the brake pedal (go into a corner too hot and you end up locking up the wheels under heavy braking, again instant spin), placement on track, and your intended line through the next corner, You must at all times be setting your car up to tackle (and power through) the next section of track (which is why becoming familer with the track layout is important)

449102 2006-05-09 20:42:00 Yeah, I learnt about applying throttle when exiting a corner, heh. I will try racing again after reading your tips, thanks.

I wish rFactor had ghost cars. But that is coming later is it not?

Whoe else has rFactor here? Shall we have a race on Saturday?
