448344 2006-06-14 05:44:00 The "The Warehouse" flyer has just come in today, and the reason I dig up this thread is because I have spotted a relatively good mp3 player deal (albeit it is an unheard brand).

Check The Warehouse's flyer here: www.thewarehouse.co.nz

The Deal: 128MB mp3 player with expandable memory feature. Earphones, USB cable, neck strap, driver CD. All for 40 bucks ($39.99)

Cheers :)

As long as the product is covered under warranty, then I might buy that mp3 player.

And what the heck has V8 got to do with mp3 players?

Cheers :)

448350 2006-06-15 11:36:00 Well James, I had a look today and it looks ok. I did not manage to get hold of the manual so cannot tell the specs.
But from what I saw...

Looks like USB 1.1
A little larger than the IPod Nano
probably heavier
might run on AAA batteries
Takes SD/MMC cards (very common)
Only MP3 and WMA, no OGG
Fat fingered peeps will hate it.
LCD Screen
FF, Rewind, Play, Vol +, Vol -, Power buttons

I say, get an iRiver

448352 2006-06-17 04:06:00 I have just come back from window-shopping at The Warehouse. The mp3 player has all the features that bob has described, except that it is USB 2.0 compatible. This mp3 player is perfectly all right for average home users, but the downfall is that it runs on AAA batteries, which is a no-no for me. :groan:

I didn't buy it at the end, despite its popularity (there was only one left when I went there).

Cheers :)
