696443 2008-08-11 07:29:00 What Firewall do you recommend??

Comodo seems to be poplar with PF1 people at the moment.

696444 2008-08-11 07:36:00 Yes comodo is good but I personally had some issues with it this year, it would not work with my atheros ethernet controller so have gone back to Zone alarm which also had the MS update issue but that has been fixed now by ZA so really it's your choice gary67 (56)
696445 2008-08-11 07:52:00 Yes comodo is good but I personally had some issues with it this year, it would not work with my atheros ethernet controller so have gone back to Zone alarm which also had the MS update issue but that has been fixed now by ZA so really it's your choice

So THAT'S what the prob was! I also have an Atheros NIC - didn't know what had caused my internet to go down!

I tried out Comodo, but as above it blocked my internet access - so like you I went back to ZA.

But yes, ZA is good (read: does what I want it to) but in some respects Comodo is better. Eset Smart Security comes with a firewall (packaged with an AV) if you want to pay for it.

696446 2008-08-11 07:56:00 Yes I was re building my system and put in a new mobo an Asus P5KPL-CM and when I reinstalled Comodo which had been working fine on my old mobo I had no internet so the first thing I tried was t shut it down and I was back on, tried it twice even re installed it just to make sure and still not net so then went back to ZA.

So if you have an Atheros NIC it won't work with Comodo.

696450 2008-08-11 11:23:00 Any easy ones for a dumby to use? lol. I have windows and it just wont switch on again. I have advast as my virus protecter or whatever you call it. MrWhiskers (11134)
696451 2008-08-11 11:24:00 Something about Security Centre wont turn on? Worked ok until today hmmmm. MrWhiskers (11134)
696452 2008-08-11 11:28:00 What does security centre say, the firewall is off?? Run Windows firewall and turn it on

If it doesnt stay on or brings up an error, something (like a virus or something) may have disabled it
