2006-05-01 11:09:00 | Just got back home from a 2700km road trip around the top 2/3rds of the South Island. Didnt see a single roadside speed camera (boot of a car/van type) Are they all hidden inside trees and hedges nowdays or is there a reason for their disappearance? Not complaining at all. Just wondering :) | Johnnz (7246) | |
2006-05-01 11:46:00 | No, they just don't exist. I know a guy who maintained 140-160km/h all the way from Picton to Dunedin, slowing only in built-up areas. No speeding tickets. | george12 (7) | |

2006-05-01 19:51:00 | There are speed cameras in Christchurch they rotate them around the sites as well as a few mobile and hand held types . Guess you were lucky. One of the most busist ones is in Hornby on State high way one heading south ( between two traffic lights in a 50 k zone)

2006-05-01 21:50:00 | They are all catching grannies doing 61 in 50 kph areas. Easy prey. Also no time for the radar detector to detect them. NZ is too spreadout and the use of radar detectors by high speeders on open roads make them next to useless there. It is far better to have police cars driving on the roads and unmarked ones at that.

We quite often come across them when we least expect them so it doesn't pay to be complacent. | FoxyMX (5) | ||
