450414 2006-05-01 08:40:00 LOL A93 that's sounds pretty good. If your weekly costs for getting to work and back on public transport is only 30 bucks a week in the infamous Orcs then I am impressed. That is comaprable to the costs for us wop-wop dwellers.

PS the 20 a week bussing to work in orcs was 1987.

450415 2006-05-01 08:55:00 Don't take me wrong, I dont buy into the whole Jafa carry on, but as far as places to live....60 minutes in any direction and you have improved your souroundings and quality of life ten fold.
60 minutes from downtown auckland still leaves you in auckland unless its peak hour traffic and that will only get you half way up queens street, but I know what you mean

450416 2006-05-01 09:04:00 Turn Queen st into a mall and orcs would have a shot at being a queen city. mark c (247)
450417 2006-05-01 09:07:00 Actually theres more than one Council in Auckland. Waitakere says you have to get permission to cut down a trre over a certain height and if its a native, never. Even if its going to fall on you.

But Auckland did cut down trees in Queen st which caused a fuss.

And $30 for a weeks bus? Since when? Yeah maybe if you live 1 zone out. Where I was its 4 zones just into downtown, never mind anywhere else. Thats $5 each way, per day. Thats $50 a week. And for instance when I worked in South Auckland, that would have been, who knows, 6 or more zones per day?

If I could have got a bus that is, as they didn't go down Triangle Rd at all. You had to go either up Westgate or into Henderson itself.

And if Auckland is 5th best in the world who skewed those figures? Compared to where? Calcutta?

450419 2006-05-01 09:22:00 if i had money to splash around i wouldn't waste it on that sort of thing and i don't even want to hear about "O but what a gain you could make." mark c (247)
450420 2006-05-01 09:26:00 I'm with Mark C, If I could afford 80 grand for a place to park my wagon I would have to be rolling in cash, In which case I would sell up and move somewhere far more relaxing, and then use that 80 grand to buy someplace to park my arse, something like a house and carshed w/land combo....And maybe a boat upgrade...
