| 697033 | 2008-08-13 10:08:00 | Have you tried them in a different PC? Don't just throw away backups - unless you can make new ones right away :) No. These are old ones. I want to use them again to do a fresh backup. PJ |

I personaly just use a write once - they are so much more reliable, and the cost these days is not really high even if there is only half a disc used when burnt. :2cents: Imagine if you had really actually needed those backups! |

| 697035 | 2008-08-13 10:29:00 | Bevy 121 I don't agree. I have used DVD RW's for the last 2 years. And find them to be very reliable. I often re-format them and use them again. OK occassionally one craps out. But I always check my backups before I file them away. And on a similar note, I used to burn to non RW DVD's and often they crapped out whilst recording. I have NEVER had that happen with the Sony DVD RW+'s that I use. |

I've not tried Sony discs but have heard they are good. If you're using RWs for backups, get some reliable media like Verbatims and they should be fine. |

| 697037 | 2008-08-13 23:17:00 | yes - perhaps I should have clarified my opinion a bit more... using "budget" type discs such as Imation etc, which are ones I usualy use (and PJ by the looks) will be more prone to failure, especially RW Higher quality (and cost) will of course be a more reliable option, if the $$ are not a factor |

| 697038 | 2008-08-14 03:35:00 | I found RW CDs were an absolute pain in the neck and had nothing but trouble with them DVDs seem the opposite. I use RWs a lot especially with the TV and Sony writer. Used over and over again they have given no problems. I don't use them all that much on the computer but still they seem reliable and are my last line of defense as regards backup. I buy cheapies. |
