696857 2008-08-13 02:01:00 Well in order for the network card to work properly, it HAS to be enabled in the BIOS .

Look at the back of the case, are the leds on the NIC flashing / on / doing something besides nothing / being off?

You dont have to be on a network to have this kind of prob .

If its not working, you either havent configured something in the router properly, the network card is stuffed, the cable is suffed .

Or what you've put under the LAN properties in Windows is wrong

You haven't reinstalled windows recently have you?? If you have, you have to reinstall of the drivers again

Thanks Speedy,

I am pretty sure the light where the cable plugs in to the back of the case is working ok but I will double check the next time I have an issue connecting on startup .

I haven't reinstalled windows for several years now .

What should the LAN properties be set at to be correct? Where do I change them?

Is there any way I can check to see if my card is stuffed?

Thanks

696858 2008-08-13 02:19:00 I dont know what the IP of the 540T is. To login to it.

And I dont know what the valid IP range of the router is.

This is what you have to find out first

You click on the NIC / LAN / properties / TCP/IP. This is where u type whatever IP in manually

And point it to the router, and the ISP's DNS server IP's in down the bottom
