696724 2008-08-13 03:07:00 You just download the latest version, it overwrites any older ones. wratterus (105)
696725 2008-08-13 06:32:00 Well, I had already installed the latest version of Java, so I am clear on that department, but I have discovered that some users are having similar issues and have switched to flash 10.0 so I gave it a go and uninstalled the version 9 I had on and installed the new version 10. I have browsed a little and so far no issues, but are early days still and I also believe that version 10 is a beta release, so watch this space. Sanco (683)
696726 2008-08-13 20:43:00 Just as I thought the "no problem" window only lasted the space of an hour, then the hanging issues started again.
Same story; I can get into any website without any problems, then after some time spent inside the site if I click on any hyperlink to move within the site the browser hangs. I can refresh or re-load the page though, without problems but it takes me a fair few go's before I can reach the desired page through the hyperlink...

I am out of ideas now. Do you guys/girls think I should action the "final solution" and do a clean re-install of the OS?

696727 2008-08-14 06:50:00 Does IE work properly? Test it and come back again, don't do a reinstall just yet. SPARTAN 860 (2618)
696728 2008-08-14 20:51:00 I deeply dislike IE, but ok, for the sake of elimination process I'll try it and will post the results.

696729 2008-08-15 23:48:00 Here we go. I tried IE, it hurt, and had same problems. So, last night I backed up important files with genie backup manager and refomatted the HD. After re-installing most things, and after most of the morning online, the browsing is back to what it used to be. Go figure.

Thank you all for the kind help offered, most helpful in the process of elimination.
I guess sometimes we just have to accept that we just can't win against windows and it's quirks.
