| 696882 | 2008-08-13 02:02:00 | My computer hangs up on start up if it has been switched off for a day or so. It doesnt do it if shut down then immediately re started. It does the initial boot thru the bios, then a single beep, then it recognises the drives and gets down to a message "Verifying DMI pool data..." After this the screen goes blank and nothing happens. I can boot into safe mode using F8. If I then tell it to boot with a log, it will boot up normally. Im using XP SP2 Mobo is soltek SL-75DRV4 Any help appreciated. I have downloaded HIjack this so could post a log. |

| 696891 | 2008-08-13 22:11:00 | hi I think we may be close to the fix. I started up this morning and it locked up as usual, but I only had to push the reset button once and it booted normally. I have made the change you suggested. I used to have Norton system works installed, and antivirus, but not 360. However I changed to AVG. So the process you mention could be a leftover from that era. I did try to remove all trace of Norton, but it is hard to get everything. I have downloaded and installed the revo uninstaller which was recommended in the magazine recently.
