Do you stick to the recipe? this is posted partly because of another thread where the boys were discussing food items...:D What is your favourite dish? and if you have a recipe for it post it here......... What foods your family eats regularly? How many in your family? to give an idea how far a meal can stretch....... I am off to the supermarket...inspire me........what could we be having for tea tonight? :D beetle |

I've created a few dishes in my time, but one of my supremos, as mentioned here once before are my spare ribs (which coincidently I'm doing tonight with baked potatos and Greek salad). A dish I'm particularly proud of inventing is a vege mix, cooked in the wok after I've stir-fried some slivers of pork - using split almonds, tomato paste, chopped onions and mushrooms, sliced courgettes, julienned carrots, dash of chilli sauce, dash lime juice, dash worcester sauce, basil, parsley and some salt and black pepper. Mmmmmmm I also do a wicked version of monkey gland sauce - served over sausages and mash or home-made hamburgers. |

| 450470 | 2006-04-29 02:37:00 | Breakfast bake: *Slightly toasted slices of bread (herbed is best) *Pan fried slices of brinjal *A few slivers of onion *Finely sliced panccetta or proscuitto *Slices of cheddar *Sliced tomatoes *Sliced mushrooms *Salt and pepper *Mozzarella Layer all except mozzarella in any order between the toasted bread, top with coarsly grated mozzarella, place in pre-heated oven at 180 C, bake 5 or so minutes until browned and sizzling on top. Serve with a poached egg seasoned with salt, black pepper and hot chilli sauce. |

Most recent was rabbit in mustard cream sauce. Me except BBQs. Yes. No. Lots. Roasts, BBQs - marinated and cooked on TiTree. Stirfrys, casseroles of varying types - I like the Italian types. Pasta. BBQs!!! 2 of us normally. Heres a cheat meal. 1pkt of 2 min noodles (Which normally I avoid), some sliced onion and sliced up whatever you might have leftover in the fridge in the way of veges. Saute the onion, throw in the sliced up leftover whatever veges, add a dash of soy sauce and the soaked 2 min noodles without its nasty "flavour" pkt. Instant dinner.... Last night I made chilli and lime chicken nibbles with stir fry veges. NOT made from a pkt or jar. Goulash is one I make a lot in winter - thin as a soup - thicker for a stew. Chopped beef - whatever - the cheaper the better. Saute chopped onion, add meat and brown. Stir in 1 can of chopped tomatoes, 2 large chopped potatoes, 3 or 4 chopped capsicums, 1 Tbsp of paprika, pinch of caraway seed, splosh of soy sauce, pepper, 2 bay leaves and however much stock you want (depending on how thiock you make it). Simmer for an hour or so (depending how cheap the beef was). Serve with crusty bread and technically sour cream to be traditional but I hate sour cream so I don't. |
