450082 2006-04-27 12:12:00 Hi

Got a question in the middle of the invoice

It says

By being a Ihug customer you have:

recieved FREE Email virus and junk mail filter

Would that make sense?Would the email virus relate to the word filter?

I thought junk mail filter is together while email virus is separate

So I am thinking that they are saying we are receiving free email virus..

Take a look at this

450083 2006-04-27 15:16:00 From a marketing point of view (and I am only talking as a consumer) this statement implies that by simply being an Ihug customer you will receive 2 free services . Furthermore this sentence also implies that you dont have to do anything to receive or activate these services .

thought junk mail filter is together while email virus is separate
Now this doesn't make sense .

I see on offer 2 services .

Firstly they will scan all emails for virus and secondly they will filter out any junk emails . Of course some junk emails may contain a virus .

I take it that somewhere else on that invoice it should state that customers should not rely only on these services .

450084 2006-04-27 18:13:00 Their grammar might be a bit off, but why worry? The meaning is clear.

There's a lot worse grammar in this forum every day.

Anyway IHugs a/v and filtering is as near perfect as you'll get and I,for one, am more than satisfied with it.

The correct English is:
recieved FREE Email anti-virus and junk mail filter

BTW, the URL you gave ends with ".png"
What is that?

Disagree. Although they could've worded it that way, as the sentence stands it's perfectly sensible. What it implies is that they're filtering emails for viruses and junk. Anti-virus doesn't need to come into it, besides which anti-virus is a virus detection and cure application, whereas all they're doing is filtering.

No. This sentence says received free email. Plus virus and ...etc etc

Received a free email-based antivirus and spam filter program.
