697651 2008-08-16 07:43:00 I'll take it from the top.

My PC has an intel motherboard.
1.75GB of DDR RAM. (3x512MB, 1x256MB)
2.6GHz Pentium 4 Hyper Treaded processor.
ATI Radeon HD2600XT AGP Graphics card.
250GB Western Digital IDE hard drive.

Today I decided to try dual boot XP & Vista (Vista Ultimate 32bit installed). When I ran the XP setup I had a few errors saying that 'XXXXX file could not be copied.' Nevertheless I restarted my computer to find that when it restarted there was a screen saying 'error loading operating system.'
So what I did was formatted the entire hard drive  using my bootable vista disc. Then I used my bootable XP disc to install XP by itself. I still had the errors but the copying of setup files finished but when it restarted all I got was the splash screen from the people who made my computer (silicon) and I couldn't do anything (note even open the bios.)

HELP!!!

697652 2008-08-16 19:39:00 Sounds like there's somethng wrong with the XP cd, if its creating errors.

When you try and reinstall XP. The cd hasnt got fingerprints, or something on it, has it?

Try and copy the XP cd to your hard drive (create a folder first, then copy. I take it, you've got another computer)?

See if it says the same thing again. If it doesnt, burn it to another blank cd.
