697393 2008-08-15 02:52:00 I've finally got around to signing up for Broadband with Xnet, but now I need to buy a modem. Are there any recommendations on what to buy, what to avoid etc. Which brand are the best/worst.

Any advice would eb greatly appreciated :)

697394 2008-08-15 03:13:00 How much are you willing to spend?

How many computers do you plan to connect?

Do you need/want wireless?

Linksys are really good imo.

697395 2008-08-15 03:33:00 Under $200 if possible.

One computer for now, no plans to add another in the near future.

No, don't need, want wireless.

I've seen 4 makes so far - Belkin, D-Link, DSE (which I always tend to avoid) and I think the last one was Linksys.

697397 2008-08-15 03:54:00 This is probably a stupid question but is D-Link the same as Dynalink? Saint Huck (2424)

Well maybe, but that depends on WHERE you get Dlinks from. If you got it from the ISP you joined, take it back since they suck :D

This is a Dlink, never had a prob since I brought it and started on broadband

697401 2008-08-15 08:27:00 Have been using this Dlink supplied by Telecom about 2 years ago and it is still going strong. Not a single problem, so far! bk T (215)
