453086 2006-05-08 02:38:00 If you keep your Anti-Virus Sigs up to date, how important is this feature. In the PC World. It is rated high.

AVAST and AVG were rated low in Heuristics, so I am considering moving to McAfee which was rated better, in this category.

453087 2006-05-08 03:06:00 It could be considered a very important feature, as clever heuristic algorithms could in principle detect a virus early on before it has been disected, and a signature produced. Terry Porritt (14)

453090 2006-05-08 22:25:00 So I should upgrade from AVAST to McAfee or one with stronger heuristics.

NOTE: I also run ProcessGuard which stops most executables in their tracks.

453091 2006-05-08 22:33:00 Well, I wouldnt get Mcafees .

An update they did a few mths ago .

The update removed valid system files and other valid files, thinking they were viruses etc .

They had to release an update, soon after, to fix the update .

lol sounds like MS .

453092 2006-05-08 22:42:00 I remember that. However, they may have learnt a lesson from that though. KiwiTT_NZ (233)

453094 2006-05-08 23:16:00 i don't know how they tested it......one thing you hve to watch is some antivirus have heuristics turned off by default (to help speed up scans). check if the testing just used the program defaults or set them all to the same settings. tweak'e (69)
