451665 2006-05-03 10:50:00 see Theresa spin her way out of this one, have you noticed how many direct lies she tells when interviewed lately. How can she and her fellow top executives sleep at night ?

I'm sure she and her cohorts sleep quite well on a million dollar plus salary, and let's face it she earns it as from a business perspective she is running a monopoly by the book... defend, delay, deny while maximising returns to the shareholders. Anyone who thinks Telecom, or any other large company in that position is run for the 'public good' only is dreaming.

The minister for whatever has said tonight that LLU will likely take up to 3 years to implement, plenty of time for Telecom to move on.... and then of course good ol' NZ will still be 3 years behind the rest of the OECD as the rest of the world would have moved on as well.

Now, about my power bill...

451666 2006-05-03 11:06:00 I've said it before, and I'll say it again: economies of scale.

That is all.

451667 2006-05-03 13:44:00 And I'll say it again, it's worked extremely well in other countries with similar topography and populations (the last bit means economies of scale, in case anyone wondering).

So there we have it, the definitive word.

Now as they say on some sites "Was this reply helpful" and Murray I have to say "yes".

Please would you fill in more detail --- eg presumably these include the Scandanavian countries ? Where is(are) the review(s) ?

451669 2006-05-03 20:59:00 ...Has the electricity industry improved since it was forcibly split?
Noticed the cheaper price of power yet?Something to really think about and watch

451670 2006-05-03 21:19:00 Slightly off-topic but to do with the unbundling announcement... anyone noticed how much Telecom shares are dropping? In Australia the share price dropped 7% immediately... its dropped 50c on Wall Street.. with the NZ Stock Exchange still to open.

Anyone know realistically which ISPs are actually in a position to throw money into NZ? Ihugs parent company is having issues in Aussie, who backs Orcon, TelstraClear has been slow, anyone backing Slingshot, Maxnet or the others?

I'll be interested to see if any insider trading charges are laid against the person/persons in NZ who dumped a bundle of Telecom shares yaterday before the NZ stock market closed.

I bet there are a lot of stock market Lemmings this morning on the phone to their brokers yelling "Sell, Sell, Sell"

451672 2006-05-03 21:40:00 Something else I am curious of.... if ninjas' figures are right re: the southern cross cable, then we are going to need another one (or replacement). Whos paying for that?
Or you think the ISPs will start satellite services (which from what I hear will be no good for gamers coz of the 1 second latency .. though I may be wrong with this).

Yes, the Scandinavians' amongst others . It's not impossible, it just has to be done right

We should have an advantage, in that we've had the opportunity to what has happened already in most developed countries in the world .

I hope they caught the sod who leaked the documents . My guess is a treasury type done it .
