452210 2006-05-13 07:00:00 It's a commerical emblem, drawing on the rebellious anti-establishmentarianism of the 1970's, and is used to sell overpriced jackets and T-shirt to ageing punk rockers and curious young 'uns. Or in light of all the conspiracy theories, it could be one of those anti-marketing ploys that pretend not to care but through a few obscure web forums and well placed threads there is suddenly huge international interest in this new 'thing' which goes on to make its pimple faced creators (or Nike) a squillion dollars. Not that I'm cynical or anything.........but seriously, what does a red lion have to do with punk? I say punk because anarchy was their slogan in the 70's and the emblem does have 1976 on it. Other than the lions having some loose connection to HRH - I'd say they are meaningless. Are you sure this isn't a genuine article and has only recently been created as a T-shirt slogan?
Just my musings...

...I clicked on this thread to post that perhaps it was nothing more then a label consisting of meaningless icons aimed at brain-dead ex-punks and trendy new ones....

....Tinfoil hat must need re-alignment....

As for the logo, I am shamed to admit that I was around in 1976 and also a 'hardcore' punk (no, not ashamed of that bit), and I've never seen that logo in connection with anything anarchistic... my bet is it's a 'do up' rather than any original punk/skin/boot boy emblem.
