452094 2006-05-04 12:03:00 Went into Dickies to buy a S5600($546).
The chap tried to sell me the Panasonic FZ7($697)
The plus side was a lcd in the eye piece, adjutable for eye condition,+++ other features, the downside for me is the type of battery, one that if it goes flat whilst away from charger, you are in trouble.a second battery is over a $100.
I would love the opinions from those that know about these things.
I asked if he had any S602's,I couldn't stop him from laughing, some people are so rude. ;)

I thought you would have bought that 5600 by now Cic. It might pay to look further. I saw it advertised for $500 in some junk mail recently.

In your comment above, were you referring to the adjustable eyepiece as a plus in the Panasonic? The 5600 also has dioptre adjustment in the eye level viewfinder.

Get the 5600 (if you cant find a S602, haha). It uses AA cells, which are very convenient & economical. Well, you know that. It has been discussed before.

Good luck.

I can get the S5600 for $470 on the net ,but I prefer to pay the xtra just in case of problems.
No it's not just a diopter, there is a small screen in the eye piece which gives a acurate view when doing macro etc.
Dicky will only bring the price down if I can show a lower price from a advert from a similar kind of shop,no web stuff.
The AA cells are influencing me at the moment.

Hi

Harvey Normans have the S5600 at the moment for $499. It is advertised in the best buys brochure that landed in our letterbox yesterday afternoon. If you don't have it/don't get it I could mail it to you and you could take it in to Dickies (or you could just go to Harvey Normans!!!).

I have the S5000. Great camera and I recommend the S5600 to people that ask for advice.

The ability to use AA's has saved me on occasion and always has a bearing on what I buy (I have many rechargeable batteries around the house now!)

Hi and thanks Tu.
Does the brochure mention that it is exclusive to NP,the brochure doesn't seem to mention S5600 and there web site quotes it at $545.?
