698026 2008-08-17 08:17:00 It sounds like the file for firewire maybe corrupt

You could try start/run and type sfc /scannow you'll probably need the XP CD

Or update to SP3

After you do what speedy tells you to do, try to get avast on it and scan, it might pick up quite a few since he never had an AV.

698029 2008-08-17 08:53:00 Ok Speedy, I did what you told, but the "sfc /scannow" does nothing, I mean after I type in that nothing really happened, trying the avast now powerover (12121)
698030 2008-08-17 09:22:00 Try this. Since it'll only boot into safe mode (you may have to select safe mode / command prompt from the menu)

Put the XP CD in.

Open a command prompt, type the letter of the CD (ie: cd E:, F:, whatever)

Type cd I386

Type expand 1394bus.sy_ c:\windows\system32\drivers\1394bus.sys (Put a space between sy_ and C: )

See if it'll ask you if you want to overwrite it. if it does say yes. Once (or if / once it copies), reboot. Then see what happens

698033 2008-08-17 21:52:00 Did you type this?

expand 1394bus.sy_ c:\windows\system32\drivers\1394bus.sys

You didnt type in 1394bus.sys (in place of the bolded entry above did you)??

It should be 1394bus.sy_ (underscore)
