697890 2008-08-17 04:48:00 Hi!
I've been trying to do this install for what seems most of the weekend with no luck. Competer is 1Ghz Duron with 512Mb of RAM. HD was formatted. Live CD loads OK but system is not very responsive, but usable. I put this down to operating off the CD When I push the INSTALL button it goes grey, there is a lot of action from the CD and HD and about 20-30 minutes later I get a Welcome screen (which language ), after waiting for the languages to load, 10 minutes, I select and try to move to the next question. Button shows action (spinning ball) and after 2 hours of thrashing HD and CD nothing!
Just as a check I have started to Install Ubunto 6.06
I can't keep up with it and do this post. Anyway it does not appear to be a hardware problem. I'm just wondering if it a graphics thing, Ubuntu seems a lot brighter and the colours much better. Anyone any ideas?. This is my first Linux install although I have tried lots of "Live Cd's" in the past so I am at the start of the learning curve!

697891 2008-08-17 05:15:00 Now Running Ubuntu fine, so its probably not the hardware. PPp (9511)
697892 2008-08-17 06:11:00 Mint 5.0 has Ubuntu 8.04 as its base so should install OK hardware should not be a problem
but if it runs "ragged" as live CD can you try the live CD on another box or ltop.

UNTIL I fired up Firefox and a Mint home page came up with a notifcation they had been hacked, and some code injection had taken place, and to scan downloads!!!! Quite a bit of mixed feedback at that!

I have scanned everything, no problems, and will try another download to make sure I get a clean copy.( a little later)
