| 454821 | 2006-05-14 07:33:00 | Hi, Just wanna know if buying a laptop in USA will be cheaper (taking into account dollar conversion etc) then getting one here in NZ? Plan on getting either Toshiba or Sony Laptop. Howmuch cheaper is it generally if it is cheaper to get it in USA. In NZ saw VGN-FE15GP for $2699. I am looking for something similar but will be going to US in few weeks so just wanna know if its worth getting it from there. Cheers |

| 454823 | 2006-05-14 08:02:00 | Computers are generally cheaper in the US. Just check the manufacturer's website for the recommended retail price and a few stores like CompUSA etc to see what promotions etc are available. | maccrazy (6741) | ||
| 454824 | 2006-05-14 09:09:00 | don't forget that any warranty won't be worth the paper (or webpage) that its written on. the NZ agents may refuse to touch it due to it being a model not sold here, it could a major pain to send it back to the US for warranty work. also a minor thing to watch, i've seen a few usa only pc's (modem and psu are set for usa only) tho i would hope that its rare to happen with a laptop. |

| 454826 | 2006-05-14 10:51:00 | Thanks everyone, Not too concerned on warranty side of things cause i will more then likely be moving to US in the near future but just how much difference in price it is. If the saving is $100 or so. i'll save the hassel and probably buy it here. But looks like the general consensus so far is that its cheaper to get it in US. |
