454612 2006-05-13 08:58:00 Hi!
Very frustrated as VCR player is not working....

It was working on our downstairs TV. And I moved it to our TV upstairs... which plugs do i plug in? Does it need to be tuned for it to work?

The VCR player DOES work.. it's just not showing up on the TV and i've gone through all the channels including the 'video' channel, still no picture.

Please help!

Very confused. :S

Thanks...

454613 2006-05-13 12:48:00 We probably need a bit more info. However I'll give it a try.

Your VCR sends a signal to the TV. This is not the same signal as the other channels. In other words, the VCR needs to be tuned in just like a TV channel.

Usually I play a tape so I know what picture I'm looking for. Then manually scan through the VHF and UHF bands until I find the VCR picture.

I'm assuming you have the aerial coax going into the VCR and then another coax leaving going to the TV.

You can also run a separate cable from the VCR to the TV's AV inputs (if you have them - common) which is 3 red, yellow and white plugs with RCA connectors (plugs). This gives you a completely separate signal to the TV on AV when you choose AV. The VCR will be detected immediately.

Good luck and post back.

454618 2006-05-13 22:24:00 I still play video tapes, since I have about 25 years of various programs I have taped off TV.

454620 2006-05-13 23:01:00 For info, on same mission, further to Winston info re RCA cable just bought a 3 wire A/V cable from DSE CO586 rather long at 5 m. Some TV only have a yellow Video in and red Audio in, the more upmarket also have a white audio in for left and right speakers. One TV manual has all the instructions for a video channel but the other TV manual has no instructions on finding a video channel but does show the audio and video RCA connection, will have to fiddle.
