| 454556 | 2006-05-13 06:54:00 | Seeing digital TV is coming in, does anyone know if HD/DVD recorders can record digital TV? Or what about the latest video recorders? Also does anyone know anything about the "boxes" we will need to get for our non-digital TVs. :confused: |

| 454557 | 2006-05-13 23:38:00 | This is my understanding (I may be wrong): 1) There are currently no DVD recorders with digital tuners 2) TVs with ATSC digital tuners are designed to receive digital terrestrial (DVB-T) rather than digital satellite (DVB-S) 3) That means that you will either need to use whatever they sell when digital satellite is officially available (I don't have a clue what will be available but my hope would be a basic STB and a dual tuner STB with a program guide etc, ideally they would have network capabilities, but that might be a little optimistic considering we live in New Zealand) or buy your own. 4) If you have a satellite STB you can plug it into your DVD recorder. If your DVD recorder has G-Link or another way of communicating with STB boxes, it will be able to change stations but most don't have this capability and it means you would only be able to watch the station being recorded.
